The boat lagoon

Returning back home after a great vacation on the East Coast I kept thinking about recreating that wonderful water view. This random picture reminded me of the seascapes i saw at Cape Cod bays although I am not aware of the picture origin:

IMG_2959It can very much be one of many Minnesota lakes! Anyhow, i loved the color palette one could use in painting the picture so i jumped right in starting with the sky and following with the water:

When i started adding the boats to the painting i suddenly realized that the left side trees are disproportionately huge compared to the boat! Later on i had to “cut” the tops of the trees:) and i enjoyed that ability to add or erase whatever i want thanks to the paints’ covering qualities. I also added some red color to the small boat held by the large boat on the right hand side of the painting. The plain white color seemed to confuse the audience a lot. The color splash gave much clarity to the painting’s composition in my opinion ๐Ÿ™‚
